Rural Scene

In this album, I pay tribute to Ontario’s farmland...some of the most fertile land in Canada. It’s the land that feeds us! Having grown up on a Haldimand county farm, it’s part of my being. Those formative years in rural Ontario have left a permanent mark on my soul!

Every farm season stirs its own memories...the excitement of birth, new growth and renewal in spring; long summer days with green pastures and later, the scent of freshly mown and raked hay;  the harvesting of crops and changing of colours in autumn and finally, winter with snow covered fields, farm animals sheltered in barns and life slowing down to a calmer pace as the year comes to a close.

Whether current farm trends or nostalgic remnants of the rural past, they attract my eye and lens. It’s my wish that these images will remind you of the value of this land for local food production and the role it plays in the health and well-being of us all. I invite you to join me in supporting the Food and Water First movement to protect Ontario’s precious farm land from being lost forever to urban development.
